Wiesemannhof

From organic to perma

500-year-old Wiesemannhof farm may be found nestling in dark woodland and lush meadows between Antholz Niedertal and Mittertal. A farmhouse beaten black by the sun, a farmyard and the old, self-restored watermill are right next to the newly built holiday house. This is the sort of farm holiday that you usually only read about! Guests in the five holiday flats may look forward to a children's playground with a Wendy house, barbecue, hay sauna and farm chapel. The farm's own mountain pasture lies at an altitude of 2,000 m.
The Oberhauser family grows organic grain, wood and potatoes – as well as herbs in the garden. In 2016 they also switched to organic cattle farming, and their organic milk along with their other products are on sale on the farm, as long as stocks last. Wiesemannhof farm has held a Bioland certificate since 2013.
However, the Oberhausers are thinking ahead: in the future, junior farmer Manuel would like to increase the amount of permaculture on the farm. That's why he has already planted pawpaws, American persimmons and service trees, whose roots are fertilised with the wool of two sheep pigs and remain protected against the wintry Pustertal temperatures.
